To follow up on an earlier post here, “The Future Will Be Made of Glass & Silicone”, Bret Victor writes that the problem with such visions of the future is that they aren’t, well, visionary. “Why limit the future of interactions to models and ideas that have been around since at least 1968?” he asks, pointing out that “pictures under glass” visions forget the expressive nature and insanely large amount of things other than pointing and swiping that you can do with your hands. “Why should the future of interaction be limited to just fingers” he ends, after going through the hands’ potentials and technology’s forgetfulness in “A Brief Rant on the Future of Interaction Design”.
