Operation Shady RAT -- Back (again) to China
The news that cyberattacks and espionage originated in China will not be a surprise to many, but the details that are emerging are pretty alarming. Five years of prolonged and silent attacks and petabytes of data stolen? Consider this quote from a PC Mag story:
"And the attacks weren’t snatch-and-grabs; hackers tunneled into the security systems, and in some cases, maintained the intrusion for more than two years"
Or this one from a BBC story
“In some cases, we were permitted to delve a bit deeper and see what, if anything, had been taken, and in many cases we found evidence that intellectual property (IP) had been stolen.
"The United Nations, the Indian government, the International Olympic Committee, the steel industry, defence firms, even computer security companies were hit.”
